Ballarat based farmer, Andrew Fraser, began by testing ph levels in just one paddock, reducing lime costs and saving his operation $17k. He has since increased testing on to the point where this season he saved around $98k compared to when he was applying lime with a blanket rate approach.
Western Victorian grain grower, Charlie Vallance, has grown in his journey with Precision Agriculture, to the point where their operation is now aiming to test every paddock within a 5 year rotation.
Wimmera grain grower, Tim Rethus, has seen a 40% saving in Lime inputs from working with Precision Agriculture. Through Precision Agriculture’s grid based soil mapping, testing was completed for ph, phosphorus and sulfur levels providing variable rate prescription maps that reduced overall inputs and improved yield.
